INDIANAPOLIS - Wining nine out of its last 10 games, the Georgia College & State University women's basketball team (14-5, 9-3 PBC) moved up a spot in the Southeast Region Poll from No. 8 to No. 7 released yesterday (Feb. 4). The top-10 teams in each region, with records through Sunday, Feb. 1, were included in this week's Division II women's basketball regional rankings.
The Bobcats are on a seven-game winning streak and currently sit third in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC). Other fellow conference members to make the top-10 region poll include, Francis Marion University (18-1, 11-1 PBC) in second, USC Aiken (16-7, 8-5 PBC) at No. 3 and Clayton State University (16-4, 10-3 PBC) in the sixth slot.
The NCAA Region Poll determines the eight teams from the Southeast that make the NCAA Tournament. There are three automatic bids from conference championship tournaments and five at-large selections.
Georgia College finishes its six-game homestand Wednesday, Feb. 11 when the Pirates of Armstrong Atlantic State University (12-8, 7-6 PBC) sail into town at 5:30 p.m.
