MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- Senior Tiauna Brantley(Woodstock, Ga.) of the Georgia College & State University women's basketball team (2-0) was chosen as the Georgia College Athlete of the Week, the sports information office announced today (Nov. 18). The award honors the top performance by a Bobcat during the week ending Nov. 16.
The honor came after the Lady Bobcats opened up the season with two high-scoring wins. Georgia College destroyed the University of Mobile 81-58 Saturday and defeated Tougaloo College 79-67 Sunday. Brantley is the only Lady Bobcat to have scored in double digits in each of the first two contests this season. She's averaging 13 points and 6.5 rebounds per game after the first weekend. The senior hit for 10 points and five rebounds in the opening win over Mobile and added 16 points and eight boards in the win over Tougaloo.
The Lady Bobcats are back in action tonight, Nov. 18 at home as they take on Lenoir-Rhyne University beginning at 7 p.m. for "Pack the House in Pink."
