2014 NFCA Division II National Assistant Coach of the Year

Kayla Lucas will be entering her fourth season as an assistant to Jamie Grodecki. During her first three seasons, the Bobcats have posted a 96-57 mark and have been ranked as high as #14 in the NFCA and NCAA polls. Lucas has also helped the Bobcats qualify for the NCAA Regional Tournament the past two seasons. In 2014 she was named the inaugural NFCA Division II National Assistant Coach of the Year.

As well as doing position work and working with hitters, Lucas also serves as the teams speed and agility coach. In just three years, the Bobcats have racked up 349 stolen bases. In all three seasons the Bobcats have lead the Peach Belt Conference in stolen bases.

Lucas, a native of Conway, Ark., received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Central Baptist College after spending her first two years at Henderson State University. She graduated with a master’s degree in exercise science from Georgia College.

Lucas played college softball all four years, while receiving NAIA, NCCAA, and NFCA All-American honors in 2010 and 2011. She led Central Baptist College to a National Championship in 2010 and was named to the All-Region and All-Tournament teams in 2010 and 2011 as well.
