#20 GC Softball Puts National-Best Three on CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 20 Georgia College Softball team (36-16) has placed three members on the College Sports Information Directors (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced recently.

Seniors Hannah Coursey (Sugar Hill), and Holland Coursey (Sugar Hill) join sophomore Amber Coy (Warner Robins), taking up three of the 11 spots on the District 3 team, which includes student-athletes from the Peach Belt Conference (PBC), South Atlantic Conference (SAC) and Conference Carolinas (CC). The three is the most on the team by any school in the district, and ties for the most from any school in the eight regions across the nation.

Hannah Coursey owns a 4.00 GPA in Accounting and makes her third career appearance on this list. She earned Academic All-America status in 2017. Holland Coursey is now a two-time All-District honoree, showing a 3.94 GPA in Accounting. Coy appears on the list in her first season of eligibility, possessing a 4.00 GPA in Pre-Nursing.

All three will advance to the Academic All-America ballot, with an announcement due Wednesday, June 6.

All-time, 15 Georgia College players have taken Academic All-District nods, the most recent being Hannah Coursey, Holland Coursey and first baseman Faith Flanders in 2017.

The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed at the link above and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division. The College Division includes all NAIA, Canadian, two-year schools and other affiliations.

The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2017-18 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams.

The season has come to a close for Bobcat Softball, a year in which the Bobcats went 36-16 and took the No. 2-seed in the PBC Tournament. The Bobcats reached as high as No. 20 in the nation this season, put five players on the All-PBC Team and a league-high eight on the PBC All-Academic Team. The Bobcats led the PBC in batting average, on-base percentage and steals, finishing fourth in team ERA.
