YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Georgia College Softball squad (6-8) pounded out 11 hits for nine runs in a 9-1 run-rule win over Brevard College (1-4) Saturday at the YHC Softball Tournament.
The big inning was the fourth, when the Bobcats brought in four runs. First baseman Cassidy Rice (Du Quoin, Illinois) started it off with a solo home run, the first round-tripper of the senior's career. Shortstop Baylee Hall (Hephzibah) drove in another run with a single.
Rice finished 2-for-3 with the home run, a triple, two RBIs and a run scored. Leftfielder Holland Coursey (Sugar Hill) had three hits in four trips, scoring once. Rightfielder Deja Lester (Jacksonville) and designated player Shawnda Martin (Calhoun) had two hits each, Lester scoring twice and Martin once.
Sophomore Kayla Price (Indian Land, South Carolina) improved to 3-2 with the six innings of work, scattering four hits and three walks for just a single run. Price fanned four in the victory.
The Bobcats close out the YHC Tournament Sunday, Feb. 26 at noon in doubleheader action against Auburn University-Montgomery.
