LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Georgia College senior Whitney Okvist (Kennesaw, Ga.) has been named to the 2014 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Southeast All-Region First Team Thursday. This marks Okvist's third-consecutive trip as a NFCA All-Region selection.
Okvist returns as a NFCA All-Region First Team outfielder after being named to the Second Team in 2013. The senior first made the First Team in 2012 and also achieved NFCA All-American status that season.
In 2014, Okvist rewrote the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) record book. Her 44 stolen bases led the conference and set a new career all-time stolen bases mark in the PBC at 163. That total also placed her at No. 5 on the NCAA Division II all-time stolen bases list.
The four-time All-PBC selection led the Bobcats in six team categories in 2014. In addition to stolen bases, Okvist led the team in batting average (.435), hits (70), runs (45), on-base percentage (.505) and slugging percentage (.484). Okvist played 49 of 51 games for the Bobcats without an error.
