MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Georgia College freshman Faith Flanders (Dublin, Ga.) has been named the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Softball AstroTurf Freshman of the Week for her performance in helping the softball team to a 2-0 record this past week with a pair of wins over Tusculum College. This marks the second time this month she has been named PBC Freshman of the Week.
Flanders recorded her third win this season in Game 2 of the doubleheader against Tusculum. She pitched five scoreless innings while only allowing two hits. Flanders scattered five strikeouts and three walks over her five innings on the mound. She sat down the first seven batters she faced, and did not let any Pioneers reach third base during the game.
The win moved her to 3-0 on the season, the most wins by a Bobcat pitcher. From the plate, Flanders went 1-for-3 in game 2 with a double, her second extra base hit of the season. She is sixth in the PBC with a 1.19 ERA for the year.
The Bobcats (7-3) travel to Anderson University (S.C.) Saturday, Feb. 22 for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. at Smethers Field.
