MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Georgia College sophomore Abi LeRoy (Dublin, Ga.) has been named Bobcat Athlete of the Week for her performance in helping the softball team to a 2-0 record this past week against Tusculum College. LeRoy factored in the winning runs of both contests in extending the Bobcats' winning streak to five.
LeRoy led the Bobcats in hitting this week, recording four hits against Tusculum. In Game 1, LeRoy went 2-for-3 including the walkoff hit in the bottom of the eighth to score teammate Whitney Okvist (Kennesaw, Ga.). She also added a sacrifice bunt and a stolen base.
The second game of the doubleheader saw LeRoy go 2-for-3 again, this time scoring the winning run when she stole home after leading off with a single in the fourth inning. She raised her season average from .125 to .273 during the doubleheader.
The Bobcats (7-3) travel to Anderson University (S.C.) Saturday, Feb. 22 for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. at Smethers Field.
