MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College softball program and head coach Jamie Grodecki have announced the 2013 softball schedule. The Bobcats were 25-24 in 2012, with a 9-11 record in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) games.
The schedule features 11 home dates, in addition to the tournament hosted by GC to start the year, the 2013 Bobcat Blast. The tournament will be held Feb. 2-3 with the Bobcats playing two games each against Lincoln Memorial University and Queens University (N.C.).
The Bobcats will take part in two tournaments away from the Peeler Complex during the 2013 season, both taking place in February. They’ll compete in the Eckerd Softball Tournament in Clearwater, Fla. Feb. 8-10 and the UNA Softball Tournament in Florence, Ala. Feb. 22-24.
There will also be four regular double-header matchups during the month of February. The Bobcats will travel to take on fellow PBC member, Flagler College, then host three teams, Anderson University Feb. 20, Kentucky State Feb. 26 and will finish the month with Fort Valley State University Feb. 28.
After only one conference matchup in the first month of the season, the Bobcats will play seven PBC teams during March, including home games against the University of North Georgia March 21, and a road matchup against 2012 champion Armstrong March 23. They’ll also play Ohio Dominican University, who will travel from Columbus, Ohio for two games against the Bobcats March 8.
April will be tough finish to the 2013 season, with an away series against Columbus State University April 3, and home matchup against USC Aiken April 10 before ending the year at home against Augusta State University at home April 12. Columbus and Augusta finished third and fourth in the conference for 2012, while USC Aiken finished sixth.
