AUGUSTA, Ga. - Senior Dani Gallucci (Orlando, Fla.) of the No. 21 Georgia College softball team (30-12, 12-4 PBC) was named Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Pitcher of the Week. This is the second time that Gallucci has been given the award this season.
Gallucci was the game changer last Wednesday evening in a doubleheader against the then-No. 19 Columbus State University Cougars. She only allowed one run and finished game one with two walks and eight strikeouts. The senior retired nine straight Cougars at one point on the way to her 11th win of the season.
In the second game, Gallucci came back as a relief pitcher, striking out another five batters and walking two over the final three innings, earning her second save of the year.
In 10 total innings that Gallucci pitched, she allowed only one earned run and five hits. She walked just four Cougars over the two games and struck out 13. She also lowered her ERA to 1.21, third best in the PBC.
Gallucci's 11 wins for the season tie her for 10th in the PBC. Her second save ties her for the second most in the league.
The Bobcats will be back in action today, April 10 against USC Aiken at 5 p.m. The match will be a home game, a doubleheader and a conference game for Georgia College.
