MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Freshman Erica Bell (Fayetteville, Ga.) of the Georgia College softball team was named the most recent Bobcat Athlete of the Week. This marks the first such honor this season for Bell and Bobcat softball.
Bell had a stellar week for the Bobcats factoring into four of the six decisions. She finished 3-0 with one save and a 0.49 era. Bell pitched 7 1/3 hitless innings and opponents only hit .109 against the young righthander. The freshman started off her week pitching four innings in a 2-1 victory over Tusculum College, surrendering no hits and runs while fanning six.
She then scattered five hits over seven innings allowing just one earned run against Lynn University. Bell picked up her second save of the season surrendering no hits in 1 2/3 innings again Georgia Southwestern. She came back in the second stanza to throw another 1 2/3 hitless innings picking up the 3-2 victory.
The Bobcats will face Flagler College at home Thursday, March 15 at 3 p.m.
