SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Georgia College softball team (7-20) won their first game of the Mid-South Classic Saturday behind a barrage of hits, downing Fairmont State University 8-5.

Junior catcher Anna Parker (Columbus, Ga.) continued her recent tear at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.  Freshman Whitney Okvist (Kennesaw, Ga.) also stayed hot at the top of the Bobcats lineup, going 2-for-4 as well.

Sophomore Kelsea Martin (Dacula, Ga.) didn't take much time getting into the swing of things in her first game back from injury, as she went 3-for-3 with an RBI.  Junior Maggie Davis (Roswell, Ga.) added two hits and a RBI of her own.

Junior Sabrina Chandler (Covington, Ga.) picked up the win, throwing a complete game while allowing just seven hits.

Georgia College was scheduled to play three more games at the Mid-South Classic, but due to inclement weather the remainder of the tournament has been cancelled.

The Bobcats will get some much needed rest before they take on Lynn University Wednesday, March 9 beginning at 2 p.m. at the Peeler Complex.
