MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Georgia College & State University softball program and head coach Ginger Chaffinch would like to announce the addition of Jamie Gerace as graduate assistant coach.
She comes to Georgia College from Canisius College where she played shortstop and first base from 2003-07. A two-time Academic All-MAAC selection, Gerace majored in history. The Golden Griffins were the MAAC Regular-Season Champions twice and three times made it to the NCAA Tournament in her four seasons.
"I think Jamie will be a great addition to our staff," said Chaffinch.
Since her graduation, Gerace has worked as a personal trainer as well as a softball instructor at Sandlot Academy. She also served as a guest clinician at the Canisius Summer Softball Camp in 2007.
In 2008, the Lady Bobcats tallied the third-most wins in school history at 40-14, the most for a non-World Series participant. They won their first Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championship in a 4-3 nine-inning thriller and reached as high as No. 2 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Rankings. Georgia College also pulled home a pair of All-American honors, as pitcher Mandy Chandler (Covington, Ga.) was chosen to the Daktronics team, while outfielder Sherquita Bostick (Florence, S.C.) added to her PBC Player of the Year honor with an NFCA All-America nod. Chandler also earned Academic All-America honors.
