MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Georgia College & State University senior pitcher Mandy Chandler (Covington, Ga.) continues to be the epitome of student-athlete, adding a second Academic All-America trophy to her pair of on-the-field All-America honors. Chandler was chosen to the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA)/ESPN The Magazine Softball Academic All-America Third Team, the organization announced.

The four-time All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) selection owns a hefty 3.52 in marketing, and was a four-year graduate in May. She was one of two PBC players on this year's teams.

Chandler was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America First Team for an outstanding 2009 campaign, going 27-15 in the circle this season with a paltry 1.80 ERA. The senior struck out a (Peach Belt Conference) PBC record 417 batters over her 280 2/3 innings this year, with opponents hitting just .181. She was a Daktronics Second Team All-American a year ago.

Chandler was also named to the PBC Softball All-Academic First Team this year, and was selected to the NCAA Southeast Regional All-Tournament Team.

She was named to the Academic All-America Third Team as a junior in 2008, the first Academic All-American in Georgia College softball history.
