Georgia College Softball Remains No. 4 in Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS - The Georgia College & State University softball team (30-20, 12-6 PBC) took the No. 4 slot in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Poll for the fourth straight week.

The Bobcats have rested No. 4 for four weeks in a row, with a regional record of 26-15 for the 2009 campaign. Eight teams are selected for the NCAA Regional Tournament with three automatic bids goings to the three conference tournament champions. With two fellow Peach Belt Conference (PBC) squads sitting in the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, the No. 4 ranking could be a vital one for the Bobcats.

Georgia College also received votes again this week for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top-25, hauling in 11 votes this time, five more than last week.

The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow (April 17) at 1:30 p.m. traveling to the PBC Tournament in Florence, S.C. As the No. 2 seed, Georgia College will face the winner of No. 7-seed Francis Marion University and No. 10-seed Lander University.
