MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Senior Mandy Chandler (Covington, Ga.) struck out 15 batters in game one giving her 372 on the season, a Peach Belt Conference (PBC) record as Georgia College & State University softball (30-18) clobbered Clark Atlanta University (10-33) 10-0 and 18-0.

Game one was shortened by the run rule in the bottom of the sixth. Chandler (25-10) tossed all six, surrendering just two hits and no walks while fanning 15.

GCSU picked up two runs in the bottom of the first on just one hit, the first came around on a wild pitch, while first baseman Tonya Medders (Bascom, Fla.) singled home the second one. Georgia College plated runs in every inning save the third, including five in the sixth to earn the run-rule.

Medders ended the game on a bases-loaded single that got under the leftfielder's glove and all the way to the fence, plating three. She finished game one 3-for-4 with four RBI. Shortstop Lindsey Swanson (Kennesaw, Ga.) had just one hit, but scored twice and drove in a pair. The Bobcats stole seven bases.

Game two was a hit-fest, as the Bobcats tallied 18 runs on 12 hits, also taking advantage of eight walks. The Bobcats got 11 runs in the very first inning, sending 16 batters to the plate. In that frame, centerfielder Sherquita Bostick (Florence, S.C.) took a 1-0 pitch to the left center fence, coming all the way around for a three-run inside-the-park home run. The round-tripper was her team-leading 10th of the season.

In the first, third baseman Kori Pickowitz (Keller, Texas) had a two-run double and Swanson plated two more on a triple to left center. The Bobcats added three in the third and four more in the fourth. In the third, Medders had an RBI double followed by a two-run shot off the bat of Chelsea Wilson (Jacksonville, Fla.), her second of the season.

Medders (3-0) picked up the win in the second game, no-hitting for the first three, fanning six. Freshman Haley Burnett (Columbus, Ga.) relieved Medders for the final two, surrendering just one hit with two whiffs.

Bostick was 2-for-3 in game two, crossing the plate three times and driving home three. Medders was 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Each spot in the Bobcat order scored at least one run.

The Bobcats have clinched at least second place in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Standings with a 12-4 conference mark. The Bobcats are three games behind national No. 3 North Georgia, a 13-1 record.

The win gives the Bobcats 30 victories for the fourth straight season.

The Bobcats are back in action Monday, April 13 at 2 p.m. hosting North Georgia at the Peeler Complex to wrap up the regular season.
