GC Men’s Cross Country Earns Three All-Conference Honors and Places Third at PBC Championship

COLUMBUS, Ga.  – The Georgia College Men's Cross Country team placed three runners inside the top-15 in pursuit of clinching a third-place team finish out of the eight competing teams at the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championship in Columbus Saturday morning.  Collin Silliman (Douglasville), Shawn Olmstead (Buford) and Brennan Silliman (Douglasville) made the All-PBC Team by each recording a top-15 finish in the 70-runner field.

Three Georgia College runners strode into top-15 earning All-PBC honors for the Fall 2017 campaign.  This was the first time in Bobcat Men's Cross Country history with more than two runners earning the all-conference accolade.  The last time two Georgia College runners earned the honor was in 2011 when Tyler Mattix and Daniel Horseman received the award.

Collin Silliman set the pace for the Bobcat men crossing the finish line in ninth place with a time of 25:28, completing his race one minute and eight seconds behind the victor Silus Kipkoech of UNC Pembroke.

Olmstead trailed Silliman by just a few runners, wrapping up his day with a 12th place finish with a time of 25:36.  The Bobcats final All-PBC runner Brennan Silliman ended his freshman year with a 14th place finish, 14 seconds behind his teammate Olmstead.

Next up for Georgia College was senior James Galvin (Tucker) and Conner Reynolds (Peachtree City) who came in together and separated by just over a second and a half.  The two Bobcats completed their 2017 season with a 21st and 22nd place finish with times of 26:24 and 26:26, respectively.

The Georgia College Men had a solid race recording a team score of 78, finishing 12 points behind the runner-up UNC Pembroke Braves and 55 points behind the dominant outing from the victorious Augusta University Jags.  The third place finish for the Bobcats bests their seventh place outcome at the event in 2016, a significant improvement for Men who are now competing with the best of the PBC.

The Bobcats look to continue their successful Fall season when they travel to Wingate, North Carolina for the NCAA Southeast Regional Saturday, Nov. 4.
