MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Junior Philip Laskey (Marietta, Ga.) of the men’s cross country team has been named the Bobcat Athlete of the Week for his efforts at the Augusta State University hosted Jaguar Invitational Oct. 5.
Laskey would finish first for the Bobcats, a feat he’s accomplished every race this season. He took in eighth out of 80 runners, with a time of 26:44 in the 8K race. Laskey’s time was the ninth fastest finish for an 8K race in Bobcat history.
Laskey is the first member of the men’s cross country team to be named Bobcat Athlete of the Week during the 2012 season. Tyler Mattix was the last member of the men’s cross country team to be named Bobcat Athlete of the Week on Nov. 8, 2011.
The Bobcats next action will be Oct. 20 when they travel to Montevallo, Ala. to compete in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championships.
