TUCSON, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its Region year-end honors Wednesday, with Georgia College Men's Tennis' Pedro Ecenarro (Santiago de Compostella, Spain) taking Southeast Region Senior Player of the Year.
The No. 18 ranked singles player in the country, Ecenarro buzzed through opponents this season to the tune of a 14-4 mark, all in the top slot. He went 3-3 against nationally-ranked opponents, and 7-2 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play. He also went 14-8 in doubles action.
Ecenarro moves on to the national ballot, with national award winners announced Tuesday, May 8 at the 2018 Division II NCAA Tennis Championships in Surprise.
The season has come to a close for Bobcat Men's Tennis, a year in which Georgia College went 11-11, taking a spot in the NCAA Southeast Regional for the 13th year in a row. The Bobcats also had Ecenarro and Jannik Kumbier earn All-PBC honors for singles along with the pairing of Kumbier and Robin Moller earning the accolade in doubles.
