As pool A singles got underway Saturday, Yannik Hass (Troisdorf, Germany) faced No. 3-seed Jose Martinez of Flagler College. Hass battled through three sets, but was unable to pull out the victory, dropping the match 6-4, 5-7, and 7-6.
Kinsler began the round of 32 Saturday in pool B up against Zach Grooms of Coker College, beating him 6-1, 6-0. Next for Kinsler was Bruno Padilha of Flagler, with Kinsler making quick work of him as well, a straight-set win 6-1, 6-4.
Campus also had a strong showing for the Bobcats, advancing to the quarterfinals with straight-set wins over Marc Hofer of Lander University (6-2, 6-4) and Jannik Rottlingsberger of Francis Marion University (7-5, 7-5).
Taylor Powell (Martinez, Ga.) and Alex Schubert (Frankfort, Germany) were the lone Bobcats remaining in the A doubles pool and took on Ignado Cajal-Hernandez and Jaan Kononov of Francis Marion. Powell and Schubert had a tough match, but eventually lost 9-8.
Campus and Kinsler will be back in action tomorrow, Sept. 29 at 9:30 a.m. Kinsler takes on FMU’s Richard Ashforth, while Campus draws Fernando Espana of Newberry College.
