MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 21 Georgia College men's tennis team (12-5, 5-3 PBC) beat No. 46 Young Harris College (11-10, 2-8 PBC), 7-2 Thursday at the Centennial Center Tennis facility. The Bobcats completed their first of three Peach Belt Conference (PBC) home matches in the next four days.
The men's team got off to a great start with a 3-0 lead after doubles play.
The Bobcats top pair, the No. 16 doubles team of sophomore Yannick Hass (Troisdorf, Germany) and senior Alex Schubert (Frankfurt, Germany) won in the first spot 8-3 against Raul Quevedo and Guilherme Frias.
The Bobcats took four of the six singles matches. No. 33 Hass beat Frias 6-2, 6-0 in the first spot. Schuber fell to Sebastian Edin in second singles 6-7, 6-2, 10-5; while Waern won both sets against Vangrinsven 6-3, 6-0 at the third spot.
At fourth singles, Campus bested Pigache 6-2, 4-6, 10-1. Powell dropped to Quevedo 6-4, 6-2 in the fifth spot; and Kinsler won against Dotson at sixth singles with a pair of 6-0 sets.
The men's tennis team will finish the regular season at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility this weekend against No. 15 USC Aiken and No. 7 Lander University. The next match will be Saturday against the Pacers starting at 1 p.m.
