MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College men's tennis team started its fall season Friday and Saturday, getting some solid play against both Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and Lander University at the GC Men's Fall Championships.
Kyle Kinsler (Suwanee, Ga.) responded well to his first collegiate action, picking up singles wins over Lander's Paulo Fernandes 6-2, 0-6 and 6-2 as well as a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Ryan Rawls of ABAC.
Kinsler teamed with Yannick Hass (Troisdorf, Germany) for an 8-0 win over ABAC's doubles pairing and an 8-3 loss to the duo from Lander.
Hass beat Lander's Diego Zegarra in a pair of 6-1 sets, then fell to ABAC's Josh Page 6-3, 6-2.
Mattia Campus (Rome, Italy) saw singles action against Lander's Bernardo Bertolucci, falling in three sets 7-5, 2-6 and 6-3.
Alex Schubert (Frankfurt, Germany) beat Niklas Terhorst of Lander 6-3, 6-1 in singles action, and joined with Taylor Powell (Martinez, Ga.) for a win over ABAC's pair and a loss to Lander's.
Powell swept his singles play, beating Oscar Axelsson from Lander 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 and nearly blanking ABAC's Bo Blalock 6-1, 6-0.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Sept. 27 at the ITA Fall Championships in Sumter, S.C.
