Georgia College Tennis Releases Spring Schedule

Ga. – The 2013 Georgia College men’s and
women’s 2013 tennis schedule has been released by the tennis
program and head coach, Steve Barsby. Last season,
both the men and women’s tennis teams finished the year in
the national rankings, with both teams advancing to the NCAA
The Georgia College men’s tennis team ranked No. 16 in the preseason national poll. The Bobcats finished the 2012 season 12-9 overall with a 4-5 record in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) games.
The women’s team ranked No. 19 in the preseason poll after finishing the 2012 spring season with a 7-5 record in the PBC games and an overall record of 13-11.
Both teams will start their respective seasons away from home. The men’s team will start their year Friday, Feb. 1 with an away game at Morehouse College in Atlanta. The women will start their year when both teams travel to take on Valdosta State University Wednesday, Feb. 6.
The men’s team will host seven home games and the women nine, with the home openers coming against Augusta State University. The women’s team will face ASU on Monday, Feb. 11 and the men on Tuesday, Feb. 12.
Many of the home games will be against nationally ranked opponents, including a game against preseason No. 1 Armstrong Tuesday, Feb. 26. Armstrong will feature the top ranked men’s player in the nation.
Both teams will travel to Orlando, Fla. to play two Puerto Rican schools, P.R. Rio Piedras and P.R. Mayaguez, March 23 and 25 before returning to PBC play.
Senior Day will be Saturday, March, 30 at 11:00 a.m. against Francis Marion University. The teams will hit the road for a tough final game of the year against Lander University Sunday, April 7 in Greenwood, S.C.
