GC Tennis’s Marques Earns ITA Regional Assistant Coach of the Year
SKILLMAN, N.J. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) recently announced the 2013 NCAA Division II Men's ITA Awards with Carlos Marques of the Georgia College tennis team earning Assistant Coach of the Year in the Southeast Region.
Marques has been with the Bobcats for the last two seasons while he earned his MBA. He played for Peach Belt Conference (PBC) foe Lander University as an undergraduate. During the two years with the team the Bobcats had 31 victories, including tying the record for most wins in the program history with 19 during the 2013 season.
"Carlos is a great person and coach," said head coach Steve Barsby. "He's been a tremendous asset to our team over the last two years."
This is the third time a Bobcat assistant coach has won the ITA Southeast Assistant Coach of the Year, as Justin Pickham earned the award in both the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
