GC Men’s Tennis Earns No. 4-Seed at NCAA Regional, Start Sunday

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Georgia College men's tennis team (18-6) earned a NCAA Regional bid for the seventh year in a row, being given the No. 4-seed in the Southeast Region. The Bobcats will start the regional Sunday, April 28 against the No. 5-seed Francis Marion University (15-8) who the Bobcats defeated earlier in the year by a score of 8-1.  

The No. 8-seed Limestone College (13-6) and No. 9-seed Lincoln Memorial University (11-5) will face off Saturday, April 27 with the winner playing the No. 1-seed Armstrong (22-1) the following day.

The Bobcats have six players with double digit singles wins, led by Andreas Ainalides (Heusenstamm, Germany) and Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) who each have 16 on the year.

Wictor Andersson (Karlskoga, Sweden) and Yannick Hass (Troisdorf, Germany) each have 15 victories, while Alex Schubert (Frankfurt, Germany) and Mattia Campus (Rome, Italy) have 13 apiece.

The Bobcats have made the NCAA Regionals 14 times, including seven years in a row. In 2009 the team won a Sub-Regional Championship and advanced to Nationals, falling in the quarterfinal round.

Last season, the Bobcats beat FMU 5-2 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, falling in round two to Armstrong 5-0.
