GC Men’s Tennis Earns Regional Bid for Seventh Consecutive Year
INDIANAPOLIS – The regional seeding was announced Tuesday evening by the NCAA and the Georgia College men's tennis team (18-6) earned a place in the Southeast Region. The Bobcats have now made the NCAA Regionals for the seventh consecutive year.
The Bobcats were named the No. 4-seed in the region and will face off against Francis Marion University (15-8) at the No. 5-seed. The teams will compete at host site Savannah, Ga. as No. 1-seed Armstrong (22-1) takes on either No. 8-seed Limestone College (13-6) or No. 9-seed Lincoln Memorial University (11-5).
The Bobcats defeated the Patriots 8-1 when they met earlier in the year.
"I'm very excited about heading back to the Regionals," said head coach Steve Barsby. "The team has worked hard and is looking forward to the challenge that awaits them in Savannah."
The Bobcats take the court against the Patriots Sunday, April 28 at 2 p.m., the same time that the Pirates face the winner of the LMU and Limestone match. The winners in the first round will move on to the regional final Monday, April 29 at 2 p.m.
