Ainalides, Wadstein, Hass Named All-PBC
FLORENCE, S.C. – The All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Teams for men's tennis were announced Thursday evening at the PBC Banquet. Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) and Andreas Ainalides (Huesenstamm, Germany) were named to the Second Team, while Yannick Hass (Troisdorf, Germany) was chosen PBC Freshman of the Year.
Wadstein was named First Team All-PBC in doubles his junior year and earned Second Team honors in singles as a sophomore. He has compiled a 15-5 mark this year, all in first singles. He is 6-3 in PBC play and owns wins over a pair of nationally-ranked opponents.
Ainalides is in his first year with the Bobcats, owning a 15-4 record, all in the second slot. He went 8-2 against conference opponents.
Hass is just the second PBC Freshman of the Year in Bobcat men's tennis history, and the first in nearly 10 years, since Rodrigo Yamauti in 2004. Hass is 14-5 in singles play, coming mainly in the third slot. He owns a 5-4 PBC mark. He also went 12-8 in doubles teaming with both Wadstein and Wictor Andersson (Karlskoga, Sweden).
The No. 4-seed Bobcats will begin play in the PBC Tournament Friday, April 12 at 11 a.m. when they take on No. 5-seed Augusta State University.
