MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 17 Georgia College men's tennis team (16-3, 6-2 PBC) made quick work of the No. 11 Augusta State University Jaguars (10-9, 5-4 PBC) during the Senior Day matchup at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility Tuesday afternoon.
Senior Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) and freshman Taylor Powell (Martinez, Ga.) battled against their second ranked opponents in the last four days, No. 22 Victor Cabellos and Victor Guinmaraes. The match was close throughout, but Cabellos and Guinmaraes pulled out the 8-6 victory.
Ainalides pushed the lead to 3-1 as he defeated Labas 6-2, 7-5. Hass scored the penultimate point with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Guimaraes.
Wadstein finished the match off with a 6-4, 6-2 over Cabellos in the first slot.
The win gives the Bobcats a victory over their highest ranked team of the season, having previously defeated No. 13 Valdosta State University Feb. 6.
The Bobcats will take to the court in a road match against No. 30 USC Aiken (9-4, 3-4 PBC) Saturday, April 6 at 1 p.m. before finishing off the regular season at No. 7 Lander University (11-1, 7-0 PBC) the following day.
