#17 Bobcats OverPower #27 Patriots, 8-1

 

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 17 Georgia College men's tennis team (15-3, 5-2 PBC) faced off against No. 27 Francis Marion University (12-5, 3-5 PBC). The Bobcats swept singles play, including No. 48 Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) defeating No. 16 Alex Caspari, 6-3, 7-6 in the top singles slot. 

Wadstein and Taylor Powell (Martinez, Ga.) faced off against No. 16 Gavin Davison and Alex Caspari. The Bobcats remained close throughout the match, but fell 8-4.

Wictor Andersson (Kalrskoga, Sweden) and Yannick Hass (Troisdorf, Germany) defeated Marius Wahlier and Tim Ruepke 8-4.

Playing in the No. 3 doubles slot, Alex Schubert (Frankfurt, Germany) and Andreas Ainalides (Heusenstamm, Germany) made quick work of Eimon Heywood and Arnaud Holl, finishing with an 8-3 win.

Hass got the first singles win for the Bobcats, taking down Holl 6-2, 6-2. Wadstein followed with his two set victory over Caspari. Caspari is the highest ranked opponent Wadstein has defeated this year, having previously taken down No. 21 Aloua Adjenak of Saint Leo Saturday, Feb. 9.

Ainalildes clinched the team victory with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 comeback victory against Davison in the No. 2 slot.

Schubert matched up against Heywood in the No. 4 singles slot. The Bobcat junior came away with the 6-2, 3-6, 10-5 victory.

Mattia Campus (Rome Italy) extended his winning streak to 11 as he took on Tim Ruepke in the No. 5 position, winning 1-6, 6-2, 10-3. Campus finishes the month of March having not lost a match and only surrendering 3 sets.

Andersson finished off the day with a 5-7, 7-6, 10-8 victory against Luke Bateup. The win is Andersson's 13th of the season and ninth in a row.

The Bobcats will return to the Centennial Center Tennis Facility Tuesday, April 2 at 2 p.m. for a Senior Day matchup against No. 14 Augusta State University.
