MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College athletic department is pleased to announce that men’s tennis senior Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France) has won the Georgia College Athlete of the Week award. This is his first such award for the 2011-12 year and second overall.
Leborgne went 5-0 this weekend, 2-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles, at the GC Men's Tennis Fall Championships, presented by Windstream. Leborgne won Group #2 defeating Ross Armstrong of Lander, 6-1, 6-2 and Augusta's Henrique Boturao, 6-3, 7-6.
He partnered with Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) in doubles winning Group #1. The duo went undefeated, including a convincing win on day one against Lander's Samuel Poutignat and Max Desmars, 8-2.
The Bobcats will pick up their action Sept. 23-26 at the ITA Southeast Regional Tournament at Sumter, S.C.
