GC Men Head to Day Two of ITA Southeast Championships

FLORENCE, S.C. – The Georgia College men’s tennis team competed in the ITA Southeast Championships Friday night amidst the wet and windy weather. 

The Bobcats saw multiple players advance into the round of 32 after knocking-off their first round opponents. 

No. 7 overall seed Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France) disposed of his first round opponent with relative ease 6-3, 6-3. He will play today against Lucas Gobbi of USC Aiken in the round of 32. 

Also advancing past the first round was junior Tyler Franks (Greensboro, Ga.), who won 7-6, 6-3 in a hard-fought battle.

 

Wictor Andersson (Karlskoga, Sweden) will see his first action of the tournament this afternoon, after drawing a bye in the first round. 

Kasper Konyves (Helsingborg, Sweden) fell to No. 14 seed Gino Ramirez of Flagler College 6-0, 6-3, while No. 9-seed Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) was upset by Francis Marion’s Gavin Davison 7-5, 6-0. Leo Bernardes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) also fell 6-3, 7-5 to Guilherme Destefani of USC Aiken.  

In Flight ‘B’ singles, Mario Cardenas (Kennesaw, Ga.) lost to North Georgia’s Matheus Guida 6-2, 6-1. 

In doubles action, the tandem of Leborgne and Wadstein dropped their opening round match to Francis Marion’s Alex Caspari and Gavin Davison, 8-2.
