Bobcat Men’s Tennis Holds Positions for Final National Ranks

SKILLMAN, N.J. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its final run of national and regional rankings recently, with Georgia College men’s tennis (12-9) earning a No. 17 ranking in the country.

The Bobcats were No. 17 in the country, with a No. 5 Southeast Region ranking.

All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) honoree Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France) moved up one spot to the No. 26 ranked individual player, earning the No. 10 spot in the region. Leborgne went 10-9 in singles action this season.

Leborgne teamed with Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) for a 13-8 mark in doubles action, earning the No. 7 national doubles spot, with a No. 2 rank in the Southeast. The duo was also All-PBC First Team. Wadstein’s 14-6 mark at second singles also earned him a No. 15 regional singles rank.

The Bobcats have wrapped up a 2012 season that saw GC go 12-9, earn the No. 5-seed in the PBC Tournament, and eventually fall in the Southeast Region No. 1 final. The Bobcats put a pairing on the All-PBC first team in doubles and added a second team singles player. The GC men have now made five straight trips to the NCAA Tournament.
