GC Tennis’ Leborgne Named Capital One Academic All-District
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Having already brought in plenty of hardware this season, Georgia College tennis’ senior Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France) added another honor recently, being named Capital One Academic All-District.
Leborgne earned a spot on the District 3 list for Division II, including student-athletes from tennis, golf, fencing; gymnastics; ice hockey; lacrosse; rifle; skiing; swimming; volleyball; water polo; and wrestling in the PBC, South Atlantic Conference and Conference Carolinas.
Owning a 3.82 GPA in his undergrad degree in mathematics, Leborgne spent the 2011-12 academic year working on his Master’s in Business Administration, where he had a 4.0 at the nomination deadline.
The No. 27 singles player in the country, Leborgne was a two-time All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) singles player and a one-time doubles honoree as well. He recently received the school’s top honor as Senior Male Athlete of the Year and was chosen the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southeast Region Arthur Ashe Award winner.
Leborgne went 32-27 in spring singles action during his career, including a 38-28 mark in spring doubles as well. He is also a two-time PBC All-Academic selection.
He now moves on to the national Division II ballot, with Academic All-American winners to be announced later this month.
The Bobcats have wrapped up a 2012 season that saw GC go 12-9, earn the No. 5-seed in the PBC Tournament, and eventually fall in the Southeast Region No. 1 final. The Bobcats put a pairing on the All-PBC first team in doubles and added a second team singles player. The GC men have now made five straight trips to the NCAA Tournament.
