Bobcat Men’s Tennis Pulls in National Ranks

SKILLMAN, N.J. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its latest run of national and regional rankings recently, with Georgia College men’s tennis (12-9) earning a No. 15 ranking in the nation.

The Bobcats were No. 15 in the country, with a No. 4 Southeast Region ranking.

All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) honoree Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France) was listed as the No. 27 ranked individual player, earning the No. 10 spot in the region. Leborgne went 10-9 in singles action this season.

Leborgne teamed with Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) for a 13-8 mark in doubles action, earning the No. 7 national doubles spot, with a No. 2 rank in the Southeast. The duo was also All-PBC First Team. Wadstein’s 14-6 mark at second singles also earned him a No. 15 regional singles rank.

The Bobcats have wrapped up a 2012 season that saw GC go 12-9, earn the No. 5-seed in the PBC Tournament, and eventually fall in the Southeast Region No. 1 final. The Bobcats put a pairing on the All-PBC first team in doubles and added a second team singles player. The GC men have now made five straight trips to the NCAA Tournament.
