MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Bobcat men’s tennis junior Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) has been tabbed Georgia College Athlete of the Week, announced Wednesday by the Sports Information Office. This marks the first time Wadstein has won the award.
The junior helped lead the Bobcats to a perfect 9-0 sweep over Morehouse College in the team’s season opener Sunday afternoon.
Wadstein didn’t drop a single game routing Morehouse’s Dewayne Dixon 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 slot after pairing with Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France) to win No. 1 doubles 8-0.
He is off to a great start after finishing 12-7 overall in 2011, serving primarily as GC’s No. 2 player.
Wadstein and the rest of the men’s and women’s tennis team host Anderson University (S.C.) this Friday, Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. before traveling to Augusta State University Sunday, Feb. 12 for their first Peach Belt Conference (PBC) contest.
