MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 14 Georgia College men's tennis squad (4-4) picked up a solid non-conference win Thursday afternoon, sweeping the Erskine College Flying Fleet (3-9) 9-0 at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.
The Bobcats swept through the doubles portion of their match, getting an 8-3 victory from the first tandem Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France) and Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) over Angelo Ciarrocchi and Vincent Chauvette.
The duo of Wictor Andersson (Karlskoga, Sweden) and Leo Bernardes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) defeated Connor Roy and Jack West 8-3 at the second slot, while Kasper Konyves (Helsingborg, Sweden) and Alex Schubert (Frankfurt, Germany) took down James Hoatson and Aaron Twitty 8-2.
GC continued their winning ways in the singles portion of the match, as Andersson and Wadstein swept their opponents Chauvette and Twitty 6-0, 6-0, respectively.
Leborgne handled Ciarrochi in straight-sets 6-0, 6-3, as did Schubert over Roy 6-1, 6-1.
Konyves continued the trend by winning 6-2, 6-0 over Hoatson at the fourth spot, while Bernardes was ahead 6-1 before West was forced to retire.
The win gives the Bobcats their third sweep among four victories this season.
The men will look to continue their winning ways when the travel to Lander University Tuesday, March 20 for a Peach Belt Conference (PBC) showdown.
