#15 Bobcat Men Stay Unbeaten with 6-0 Sweep of Trojans

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 15 Georgia College men's tennis team (2-0) picked up their second victory of the 2012 season, sweeping the Trojans of Anderson University (1-2), 6-0 Friday afternoon at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.

While the team didn't get their full slate of games in, the Bobcat men made took down each match they played Friday.

The 'Cats opened up a commanding 3-0 lead following doubles action, as the No. 1 duo of Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France) and Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) prevailed 9-7 in a well-played match over Stan Atema and Daniel Gonzalez.

Wictor Andersson (Karlskoga, Sweden) and Leo Bernardes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) made quick work of Jerome Banker and Trey Halbauer, 8-1, at the No. 3 doubles slot. The No. 2 tandem of Tyler Franks (Greensboro, Ga.) and Kasper Konyves (Helsingborg, Sweden) pulled away late against Krystof Gulbinovic and Deni Mehagic, defeating the pair 8-5.

GC picked up a trio of singles victories to clinch the match, all coming from the top-three seeds.

At the No. 1 slot, Leborgne paced himself to a 6-4, 6-2 win over Atema, as Wadstein defeated Gulbinovic 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 2. Bernardes would round out the scoring for Georgia College, battling Trojan Mehagic to a 6-3, 6-3 victory.

The GC men will have a day to rest before their first Peach Belt Conference (PBC) match of the season at Augusta State University Sunday, Feb. 12 at 1 p.m.
