GC Men’s Tennis Among Nation’s Best
SKILLMAN, N.J. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its latest national and regional rankings for Division II men’s tennis, with Georgia College (14-9) taking No. 19 in the country.
The Bobcats are ranked seventh among Peach Belt Conference (PBC) schools, behind No. 1 Armstrong Atlantic, No. 10 Columbus State University and No. 11 Lander University among others.
In the region, GC is positioned seventh, again with the same schools ahead of the Bobcats.
The Bobcat doubles team of Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France) and Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) earned the No. 14 spot in the national rankings, taking No. 5 in the region. The Bobcat pair finished the 2011 season 14-8.
Leborgne took the No. 45 slot in the national rankings in singles action, adding the No. 18 position in the region. Wadstein came in a slot behind in the region for No. 19. Both were named All-PBC second team this season. Leborgne was 12-10 and Wadstein posted a 12-7 mark.
The Bobcats advanced to the NCAA Tournament this season, making five-straight appearances in that regional tourney.
