#11 Bobcat Men’s Tennis Blows Out Hurricanes, 9-0

AMERICUS, Ga. – The No. 11 Georgia College & State University men’s tennis team (12-4, 5-2 PBC) shut out Georgia Southwestern State University 9-0 Friday.

In doubles action, Georgia College’s Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France) and Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) blanked Victor Pinones-Haltenhoff and Ryan Bartz 8-0, improving to 5-1 for the 2010 campaign. Bobcat seniors Max Beliankou (Minsk, Belarus) and Giovane Nucci (Santa Catarina, Brazil) beat Ignacio Donnet and Sebastian Munoz 8-4 in the No. 2 spot, improving to 6-4 overall this season.

In the third slot, GSW’s Rashad Carson and Adrian Knight fell to Leo Bernardes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Tyler Franks (Greensboro, Ga.) 8-1, giving the ‘Cats a 3-0 lead at the end of doubles play.

At first singles, Leborgne downed Pinones 6-3, 6-1, while Beliankou overpowered Bartz in a pair of 6-4 sets. Leborgne is now 8-6 on the season, while Beliankou improved to 12-3 in singles play. Nucci defeated Donnett 6-1 and 6-0 in third singles, while Bernardes took the No. 4 position in straight 6-3 sets against Munoz.

Slotted fifth, Bobcat freshman Wictor Andersson (Karlskoga, Sweden) swept Carson 6-1, 6-3, going 7-2 overall this year. Georgia College sophomore Bobby Angelucci (Acworth, Ga.) beat Brandon Vann 6-1 and 6-0 in sixth singles, giving the ‘Cats the 9-0 victory.

The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow, April 3 hosting No. 8 Columbus State University in a Peach Belt Conference (PBC) matchup starting at 2 p.m. at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.
