#11 Bobcat Mens Tennis Shuts Out Saints, 9-0
DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The No. 11 Georgia College & State University men’s tennis team (11-4, 4-2 PBC) downed North Georgia (1-13, 1-4 PBC) 9-0 Tuesday, snagging its fifth shutout of the season.
At first doubles, Georgia College’s Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France) and Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) defeated Grant Partrick and Brandon Sloan 8-6, while seniors Max Beliankou (Minks, Belarus) and Giovane Nucci (Sao Paulo, Brazil) blanked the Saints’ Adrien Saulais and Daniel Aquilon 8-0.
Slotted third, the Bobcat pair of Tyler Franks (Eatonton, Ga.) and Leo Bernardes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) overwhelmed Parker LaSure and Andy McMaster 8-3, giving the Bobcats a 3-0 lead after doubles action.
In singles play, Leborgne overpowered Aquilon 6-2 and 6-3, while Wadstein won 6-2 and 6-1 in the second position over Partrick. Beliankou claimed the victory in the No. 3 spot, defeating Sloan 6-2 and 6-0, while Nucci overwhelmed Saulais 6-2 and 6-1.
At fifth singles, Bernardes shutout LaSure in a pair of 6-0 sets, while freshman Wictor Andersson (Karlskoga, Sweden) downed McMaster in 6-1 sets.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, April 2 at 2 p.m. traveling to Georgia Southwestern State University.
