MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Freshman Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) of the No. 11 Georgia College & State University men’s tennis team (10-4, 3-2 PBC) was named GCSU Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 28. This is the first such honor for Wadstein and the Bobcat netters this season.
Wadstein helped the Bobcats go 2-0 this week at the White Sands Tournament, defeating both the University of North Alabama and Delta State University 7-2. The freshman was undefeated this week, first pairing with Leo Bernardes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) to down UNA 8-1 at third doubles Wednesday, while claiming second singles 7-6 and 6-1. Friday against DSU, Wadstein teamed with Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France) in first doubles to win 8-4. At second singles, the Helsingborg, Sweden native swept Guilame Waeters 6-4 and 6-3.
The Bobcats are back in action today (March 30) traveling to take on Peach Belt Conference (PBC) foe North Georgia at 3 p.m.
