#11 Georgia College Tennis Wins 7-2 Over Delta State

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 11 men’s tennis team at Georgia College & State University (10-4) defeated Delta State University 7-2 Friday in the final day of the White Sands Tournament.
The Bobcats took first and third doubles to take the 2-1 advantage. Sophomore Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France) and freshman Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) won 8-4 over Christian Garcia and Julien Maurin at first doubles. In third doubles, the Georgia College duo of Leo Bernardes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Tyler Franks (Eatonton, Ga.) also beat their opponents by the score of 8-4, teaming for the first time this season.
Senior Max Beliankou (Minsk, Belarus) and sophomore Bobby Angelucci (Acworth, Ga.) lost 8-1 at second doubles to Delta State’s Waeters pairing, Alexandre and Guillame, the first loss of the year for the Bobcat duo in three bouts.
In singles play, Georgia College took five matches. At first singles, Leborgne won 6-1, 6-3 against Maurin. Leborgne’s partner, Wadstein took second singles 6-4, 6-2 against Guillame Waeters.
Bernardes won at fourth singles 6-3, 6-1, defeating Garcia to pick up his 10th win (10-2). Freshman Wictor Andersson (Karlskoga, Sweden) defeated Brenden Keeling at fifth singles by the score of 7-5, 6-1. Franks took sixth singles 6-1, 6-0 over Marco Heinzleman, remaining undefeated this year at 4-0.
The Bobcats’ Beliankou lost in three sets, 4-6, 7-6, 10-6 to Alexandre Waeters in the third slot. Beliankou falls to 10-3 in singles action.
Georgia College travels to North Georgia for a Peach Belt Conference showdown Tuesday, March 30 at 3 p.m.
