#11 Bobcat Mens Tennis Downs #16 Flagler, 6-3

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The No. 11 Georgia College & State University men's tennis team (6-4, 3-2 PBC) ended a two-match slide Sunday afternoon, defeating No. 16 Flagler College (7-4, 3-2 PBC) 6-3.
The Bobcats stared off slow, down 2-1 after doubles. No. 16-ranked Joao Casagrande (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France) fell 8-5 to Flagler's David Cotrone and Gino Ramirez. Georgia College seniors Max Beliankou (Minsk, Belarus) and Giovane Nucci (Santa Catarina Brazil) lost 8-3 to Harry Snoell and Time Hansson in the second spot.
Slotted third, Leo Bernardes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) overpowered FC's Peter Coulis and Skyler Engel 8-4 for a team point. The Georgia College partners improved to 3-1 for the 2010 campaign, but the Saints held a 2-1 advantage after doubles play.
In singles action, Leborgne faced No. 6 Cotrone in the first spot. The first two sets were split as the Saint took the first one 6-3 and ‘Cat claimed the second 6-2. However, it was Cotrone who prevailed winning the third set 6-4.
At second singles, Wadstein downed Snoxell in back-to-back 6-3 sets, evening out the Bobcat freshman's record at 5-5, while Beliankou won 6-1 and 6-3 against Ramirez. The Georgia College veteran is 7-2 playing in the No. 3 singles position this season.
Nucci claimed the win in the fourth spot, sweeping Coulis 6-2 and 6-3, while Bernardes took down Hansson 6-3 and 6-1. In sixth singles, Casagrande remained undefeated (4-0) overwhelming Mason Addison 6-0 and 6-1.
The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday, March 9 hosting Concord University at 2 p.m.
