#11 Georgia College Tennis Sprints Past #17 Pacers, 6-3

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The No. 11 Georgia College & State University men's tennis team (5-2, 2-1 PBC) defeated No. 17 USC Aiken (5-4, 0-3 PBC) 6-3 Sunday at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.
In doubles action, the No. 16-ranked pair of Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France) and Joao Casagrande (Sao Paulo, Brazil) fell 9-8 to the Pacers' top doubles team, Gregory Andrade and Juan Xavier Ponce. Slotted second, seniors Max Beliankou (Minsk, Belarus) and Giovane Nucci (Santa Catarina, Brazil) took down USCA's Nathan Berlyn and Nicolas Markiewicz 8-4.
In third doubles, sophomore Leo Bernardes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) teamed with freshman Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) to beat Aiken's Filipe Garcia and Juan Guglielmeti 8-3, giving the Bobcats a 2-1 advantage. Bernardes and Wadstein teamed for the first time, giving the Bobcats eight different doubled combinations this season.
At first singles, Leborgne squared off against Andrade for a hard fought victory, going 7-6 (4), 4-6 and 6-1. Wadstein lost 6-0 and 6-3 to Ponce, while Beliankou won 7-5, 6-1 against Markiewicz in third singles. Beliankou picks up his team-leading fifth win (5-2).
Nucci fell to Garcia with a repeated 6-3, while Bernardes overwhelmed Klass in the No. 5 spot, going 6-0 and 6-3. Casagrande closed out singles action beating Guglielmeti 7-5 and 6-2. Casagrande is now undefeated in two singles bouts.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, March 5 as they travel to No. 14 Francis Marion University for a 2 p.m. match.
