MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The No. 11 Georgia College & State University men's tennis team (3-1) got a Homecoming treat Saturday, Feb. 20 beating No. 33 Limestone College (0-3) 6-3 at the Centennial Center Tennis Complex.
The No. 16 ranked duo of Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France) and Joao Casagrande Sao Paulo, Brazil) took down Limestone's Christian Warnholtz and Jordan Vicain 8-1, while senior Giovane Nucci (Santa Catarina, Brazil) teamed with freshman Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) to defeat Miguel Lopez Zuniga and Henrik Nordquist 8-2 in No. 2 doubles.
In No. 1 singles action, Leborgne faced national No. 47 Lopez Zuniga, splitting the first two games 6-1 and 2-6, before Leborgne dropped game three of the set 6-4. Wadstein beat Warnholtz in the second slot, going 6-2 and 4-2 when the Saint had to retire due to injury.
Beliankou won 6-2 and 7-5 against Stephenson, while Leo Bernardes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) took No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-0 over Nordquist, becoming the only undefeated Bobcat this season. Nucci swept Nicholas Shumate 6-0, 6-0, while Andersson lost to Avil 6-4, 0-6 and 12-10 in fifth and sixth spots respectively.
The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday, Feb. 23 as they open up Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play, hosting Armstrong Atlantic State University for a 2 p.m. start.
