ATHENS, Ga. - Following an undefeated first day at the 2008 Southern Intercollegiate Championships, Justin Pickham (Armidale, Australia) and Erick Siqueira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) saw their Cinderella runs come to a close to strong Division I competition today (Sept. 20).
Pickham rebounded from a 6-4 loss in the first set, taking the final two from Georgia Tech's Austin Roebuck 6-3, 6-3, getting into the quarterfinal round. Pickham's tournament came to an end there at the hands of Lukas Concilla of the College of Charleston (6-3, 7-6(4)).
Siqueira drew a high seed in the University of Kentucky's Brian Cox, falling 6-1, 6-2 in the round of 32.
Pickham and Siqueira teamed together for a round of 16 loss, this time an 8-1 defeat at the hands of Cox and Bruno Agostinelli.
The Bobcats return to action Sept. 27-29 at the ITA Southeast Regionals in Sumter, S.C.
