MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The No. 6 Georgia College & State University's men's tennis team (16-3, 7-0 PBC) and head coach Steve Barsby finished the season ranked second in the NCAA Southeast Regional ranking. As the No. 2 seed, the Bobcats will host a regional tourney at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility May 7-9.
Georgia College will host Anderson University, Wingate University, Limestone College, Lees-McRae College and Peach Belt Conference (PBC) member, Columbus State University.
Thursday, May 7 the Trojans of Anderson will square off against the Wingate Bulldogs. The winner of that match will face Columbus State University Friday, May 8.
The Limestone Saints play the Bobcats of Lees-McRae Thursday. Along with hosting the regional tourney, Georgia College gets a bye and will face the winner of the Limestone and Lees-McRae match Friday, May 8 at 10 a.m.
The winners of the matches Friday will square off May 9 for a spot in the Sweet-16. The Bobcats have never hosted the NCAA Regionals in men's tennis. The GCSU men's squad was selected to the NCAA Tournament this year for the third-straight year and the 10th season overall.
Of the teams coming to Milledgeville, Georgia College has a 2-0 record this season, getting 5-4 victories over both Anderson and Columbus State.
