MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Georgia College & State University men's tennis team has moved up in both the ITA Southeast Regional Poll and the ITA National Poll for Division II schools released this past weekend (March 7-8).
Georgia College jumped to No. 4 in the nation after starting at No. 13. The Bobcats' upset over Armstrong Atlantic State University put the Pirates at No. 5 in the country, who were No. 1. The Bobcats gave the Pirates their first loss in two years.
The No. 4 ranking is the second highest in GCSU history but the highest under head coach Steve Barsby. Georgia College was ranked as high as No. 3 under former coach and Georgia College Athletic Hall of Famer Duward Whelchel.
The Bobcats were ranked No. 4 in the region at the beginning of the year. After an impressive 7-1, 5-0 PBC start including an upset over then No. 1 AASU, have taken over the No. 1 slot in the Southeast Region.
