MARTINEZ, Ga. - Senior Erick Siqueira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) of the No. 4 Georgia College & State University men's tennis team was named Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Player of the Week the conference office announced today (March 23). This is the first such honor for Siqueira and the third for the Bobcat tennis team (11-1, 6-0 PBC) this season.
Siqueira led the team to a pair of wins this week, extending the team win streak to nine in a row. Siqueira started the week with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Erskine's Nemanja Brcan at first singles, teaming with Justin Pickham (Armidale, Australia) for an 8-2 first doubles win. Next, he toppled No. 7 Oshida Wijemanne of Francis Marion in straight sets 6-3, 7-6(7-3) and again teamed with Pickham for an 8-1 doubles victory.
The Bobcat tennis team returns to action tomorrow, March 24 at the White Sands Tournament against No. 27 University of North Alabama.
