Recap Day One: Lees-McRae and Anderson Advance
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The first match of the day pitted Lees-McRae College against Limestone College. Lees-McRae beat Limestone 5-3. The Bobcats of Lees- McRae advanced and will face Georgia College tomorrow May 8 at 10 a.m.
Limestone took an early lead taking two of three in doubles by winning at first and third doubles.
However, the Saints were unable to capitalize in singles and the Bobcats were able to take four of the five matches and seal the victory when Steve Karendal of Lees-McRae defeated Christian Warnholtz 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.
Match two saw the Anderson College Trojans square off against the Bulldogs of Wingate University.
The Trojans led 2-1 after doubles matches. Anderson never looked back taking three of four in singles action.
No. 7 Phillip Pakebusch of Anderson clinched the victory for his team when he defeated the Bulldogs' Mitchell Lvosky 6-3, 6-2.
Anderson will face Peach Belt Conference (PBC) member Columbus State University May 8 at 2 p.m. at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.
The championship match is Sat. May 9.
